Oh, new beginnings… The start of something new can come with a variety of emotions.

If you’ve been stuck in:

new beginnings can be like a fresh breath of air.

If you are stepping into a new beginning, I hope these Bible verses on new beginnings will encourage you!

Though new beginnings can be exciting, it also comes with unknown territory. If you are someone who likes to know exactly what they’re getting themselves into or you aren’t very fond of change, new beginnings can be daunting.

You may feel:

  • excited
  • fearful
  • worried
  • nervous
  • hopeful

Nonetheless, in every new beginning, there is an opportunity for growth.

The Bible speaks often of new beginnings and God’s perspective is such encouraging Truth for you to cling to right now, regardless of what emotion you’re experiencing.

We see most prominently how God makes things new.

One of the ways we get to experience this newness is in how He has and is making us new by changing the desires of our hearts, shaping us to reflect Christ more.

It takes strength to take those next steps of obedience into a new beginning, battling your fear of failure and choosing to cling to hope with every decision and action to move forward.

Hopefully, the Bible verses below will inspire you, comfort you, encourage you, and motivate you to keep moving forward in God’s will for you with wisdom, despite the enemy’s efforts to keep you stuck.

God created you to do great things in this life (check out this post if you need reminders of your identity in Christ), but it takes a heart full of courage and trust in the Lord to move forward when there will always be excuses to stay where you are (that feels more comfortable but may be holding you back from experiencing God’s best for you).

Scripture On New Beginnings

Bible Verses On New Beginnings - Woman's feet walking on a road

1. Genesis 1:1 – All Things Have Its Existence Because God Created The World

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

We find the beginning of all beginnings in Genesis 1:1. When God created the heavens and the earth, He gave us a beginning. He is not only the Creator of beginnings but that of everything.

We can trust Him as we walk into new chapters of our lives, knowing that He goes before us. If you can approach this new beginning with open hands and a humble heart seeking God, He will be faithful in guiding your steps.

2. 2 Corinthians 5:17 – In Christ You Are A Brand New Creation!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

What better newness is there than that of being a new creation in Christ? We are no longer defined by our past, upbringing, mistakes, hurts, or actions. We have found a new identity in Christ and what a glorious reality that is!

As Christians, we get to live and learn the truth of who we are in Christ daily and, if you are listening to God’s voice (and not the enemy’s), you will experience so much peace, comfort, and satisfaction in your new path.

3. John 13:34-35 – As Disciples Of Christ We Should Love One Another

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

This new command that Christ gives us is a reflection of His love for us. The famous John 3:16 tells us that God gave His Son for us because of His love. In the same way, Jesus says that the world will know that we are His disciplines through the love that we show one another.

Think about the kind of love that is. A love that is selfless. A love that serves, one that lays their life down for their brother or sister. It is the kind of love with which Christ has loved us.

New beginnings will encourage you down a path that presents you with opportunities to love and serve others in more ways that reflect the love you have experienced from God in your own life.

4. Ezekiel 11:19 – The Lord Has Given Us A New Spirit

I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

Before we come to Christ, our hearts are like stone. It is so far removed from God because of how blinded we are by sin. When we come to Christ and He saves us by His mercy, He does not only call us to change our behavior, but He gets to the root of our sin by exchanging our heart of stone for a heart of flesh.

A heart that is responsive to the words of God, and now has the ability to choose between the desires of the Spirit and that of our flesh.

That moment of accepting Christ is just the first step in a lifetime of new beginnings you will experience, experiencing God’s guidance and goodness is more and more depth with every step of obedience you take.

5. 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 – Our Inward Person Is Being Renewed Day By Day

God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

10. Romans 6:3-4 – In Christ We Have Died And Risen To Live A New Life

Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

11. Galatians 6:14-16 – We Boast Now In Our Own Works But In The Cross Of Christ That Has Renewed Us
