MAC Cosmetics is a very popular brand loved by all ages and this is a thoughtful edit that includes skin care, brushes and a mirror – everything the make up lover could possibly need.

It’s £170 with contents worth over £485. It’s the one advent I would suggest buying and splitting up to give as individual gifts – it’s not at all in the spirit of advents but worthwhile if you are on a budget and tend to give skin care or make up as presents.

They made their mark with exciting packaging that depicts the Liberty London Store and even the empty boxes can be found on eBay ready to fill up the following year. 2022’s Liberty Beauty Advent Calendar was their fastest selling product ever in the store’s 137 year history so expect a sell-out.

Contents include niche fragrances from Vilhelm and Bibbi, a Liberty Stately Bouquet Scented Candle, premium face creams from Dr Barbara Sturm, Augustinus Bader and Paula’s Choice and the coveted Rose Inc Cream Blush. Bearing in mind that Liberty are launching their own beauty line, expect to find some surprises from that as well as an Estella Bartlet gold plated bracelet. 10/10 on variety across skin, fragrance, hair and cosmetics.

Every year I get asked what a good ‘tweenager’ beauty advent calendar might be. There’s never really a specific category for teens and tweens but they don’t want to be left out of course! It’s a question of suitability I guess, but I’ve picked the Soap & Glory Beauty Advent Calendar because it’s more about fun and playfulness than any ‘serious’ beauty, featuring hair scrunchies, nail files, body washes, a lip mask and bubble bars.

The one anomaly is the Plumping Hydrating Day Lotion, but it feels innocuous. Everything is decently sized and at £46, it’s one of the more budget friendly beauty advent calendars. SpaceNK Beauty Advent Calendar 2023. The best way to describe the SpaceNK beauty advent calendar is as MASSIVE! I have a sample here and it’s huge. I found it interesting that the entire thing from top to bottom is recyclable with water based inks and aqueous varnish.

I like the variety in products – it feels like the brand has made a big effort not to be ‘samey’ and you’ll find some unusual products such as Kosas, Naturium and Bread Beauty, not to mention a 4 pan Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palette. It’s size and the amount of product – 33 of which 19 are full size – gives it the edge over other luxury beauty advent calendars. It’s £240 HERE and for that you get over £1000 worth of product. Sephora has many brands that are exclusive to them in the UK, so this advent calendar serves up beauty products that you won’t find elsewhere such as ONE/SIZE, influencer Patrick Starr’s own label and GXVE Beauty by Gwen Stefani.I’d choose this one for a younger recipient as the brands included are skewed to Gen Z (Vegamour, Glow Recipe and Rare Beauty for example) but there is an excellent cross section of hair, skin and cosmetics. The Dior Beauty Advent Calendar 2023. Best beauty advent calendar for: Luxury fragrance lovers.

This is sheer luxury with a price that reflects that. It’s £470 and includes a limited edition Christmas ornament which I love the sound of – who doesn’t want a Dior decoration on their tree? It’s really all about make up and fragrance this year with a selection of sample size fragrance vials, a full size candle and several small size candles, along with some stunning lipsticks. It’s a good split with seven make up items (including nail polish), four candles,  three skin care items and eleven fragrance pieces. It’s £470 but yet to launch. This is definitely the best beauty advent calendar for those who want something truly different. It’s a voyage of discovery away from mainstream brands, with an artist designed box and a very thoughtful edit of products that cover fragrance, skin care and make up. It includes one of my all time favourite brands, Willowberry Skin Care. It has a value of over £300 and costs £78 HERE. There are 24 boxes (what happened to doors?), each with something special in them in the form of luxury sample sizes. Sample sized products always come with me in my travel packing so they’re always so useful to have in terms of cutting down weight and being experimental.
