  • Crescent rolls – Grands crescent rolls butter flavored or original 
  • Ham – deli ham
  • Cheese – Muenster cheese slices
  • Mustard – dijon mustard
  • Butter – salted sweet cream butter 
  • Onion powder
  • Dried Italian seasoning

Do you have a favorite sandwich cheese? You can substitute any type of cheese for the Muenster cheese on these easy ham sandwiches. Swiss cheese, mozzarella cheese, or cheddar cheese would be tasty, while a great spicy alternative is pepper jack cheese.

How to Make Baked Ham and Cheese Sandwiches

FIRST STEP: Open the 1st can of crescent roll dough and lay the dough in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Be sure to pinch close the perforated sections of the dough. Bake for 10 minutes.

SECOND STEP: Using a spoon or offset spatula, evenly spread the dijon mustard on top of the bottom roll layer.

THIRD STEP: Lay 12 slices of the cheese on top of the mustard layer.

FOURTH STEP: Folding the sliced ham in half, evenly layer the ham on top of the cheese layer.

FIFTH STEP: Top the ham layer with the remaining 12 slices of cheese.

SIXTH STEP: Lay the 2nd can of crescent dough on top of the last layer of cheese. Be sure to pinch close the perforated sections.

SEVENTH STEP: Using a small heat-safe bowl, whisk together the melted butter, onion powder, and dried Italian seasoning.

EIGHTH STEP: Using a pastry brush, generously brush the butter mixture on top of the top layer of crescent dough.

NINTH STEP: Bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until the top layer is golden brown. Slice eight 3½-inch by 3-inch sections.

Can I store leftover baked sandwiches?
