Chris Eubank Junior has paid tribute to his late brother Sebastian after he was tragically found dead on a beach in Dubai.
It was confirmed Sebastian, 29, had passed away after drowning in the UAE city, where he was living with wife Salma and their one-month old son Raheem.
His father, boxing legend Chris Eubank, spoke of his devastation at learning the sad and horrifying news, and his older sibling has now joined in the tributes with a heartfelt message on social media.
“Rest easy little brother,” Eubank Jnr tweeted. “I love you & you will be missed always @SebEubank.”
Sebastian followed both his father and brother into the sport of boxing, performing well at amateur level before stepping up to the pro ranks.
As a professional he won three bouts and made it onto the undercard for Eubank Jnr’s showdown with James De Gale in 2019, only to be denied his moment when his fight was cancelled due to the event overrunning.
He later moved to the UAE and switched to MMA, making his competitive debut in January last year, but his career has now been cut short in the most tragic of circumstances.
Eubank Snr said: “Never did I ever imagine I would write these words or experience the feeling I now have at the loss of my son.
“My family and I are devastated to hear of the death of Sebastian just days before what would have been his 30th birthday.
“He leaves his wife Salma, his son Raheem born just a month ago, his mother Karron Meadows, brothers Nathanael, Chris, Jr, Joseph, one sister Emily and countless relatives and friends.
“Sebastian grew up in Hove in England but in the last few years made his life in Dubai where he had a wide circle of friends and was a leader in the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and of alternative therapies.
“As well as being a personal trainer and professional boxer, Sebastian was also a deep thinker who liked to challenge accepted wisdom.
“He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be forever in the thoughts of friends and family. As a family we now kindly ask to be given space and privacy to celebrate his life and remember the son, the brother, the husband, the friend.”
Karron Meadows added: “Our whole family is grieving at the huge loss of our son and brother, Sebastian. Please respect our grief and privacy while we try to comprehend our loss.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn paid his respects on Twitter, writing: “So saddened by the news of the passing of Seb Eubank. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.”
British heavyweight Dereck Chishora wrote: “RIP Seb Eubank. My thoughts and prayers are with the Eubank family and all the people who knew him at this time. Terribly sad news.”
