Conor McGregor has slammed YouTube stars Logan and Jake Paul, calling the duo ‘dingbats’, while refusing to rule out a fight with either man.
The Irishman is focused on his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier on Saturday night in Las Vegas, but has been poked and prodded by both of the social media influencers in the media over the last few months.
McGregor has been loathe to indulge the brothers after their callouts of him over the last year, with Jake angling particularly intensely for a fight with the former two-weight world champion.
“I couldn’t care about them two dingbats,” McGregor told News.com.au when asked if they would be showing up cageside at UFC 264 this weekend.
And asked if he fancies a bout with either of the brothers, McGregor didn’t seem keen immediately, but also refused to rule it out, saying: “I don’t think so.
“Never say never, if they’re going to keep competing and whatnot, who knows? They’re dingbats, the two of them.”
Paul recently made an appearance at Kamaru Usman’s fight with Jorge Masvidal, but he is currently in Puerto Rico where he is training for his next boxing fight against ex-UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
The YouTube star has previously claimed to have offered a $50million guarantee to the Irishman to make his second pro boxing appearance, but no concrete talks have materialised.
If McGregor wins on Saturday night, the Paul brothers will fall even further off his radar, as he will likely earn another shot at the lightweight title and new champion Charles Oliveira.
But if he loses, he could be forced to take the social media star’s offer more seriously due to the hit his brand would take, particularly if he stopped again by Poirier.
Paul started taunting McGregor after his win over the NBA star Nate Robinson last year and has continued to insist he will face the Irishman one day.
“My team sent you a $50m offer this morning – $50 million cash, proof of funds – the biggest offer you’ve ever been offered,” said Paul in a bizarre callout video.
“But you’re still scared to fight me, Conor. You’re ducking me because you don’t want to lose to a f***ing YouTuber.
“You’re 0-1 as a boxer, I’m 2-0 as a boxer, I just came off the eighth biggest pay-per-view event in history, but you want to fight Dustin ‘Prober’ [Poirier] who has less followers on Instagram than my f***ing dog – that’s a fact.”
He has even gone as far as to poke at McGregor’s fiancee and the mother of his three children; Dee Devlin, making disparaging comments about her looks in that video.
Logan Paul, Jake’s older brother, is 0-1 as a professional, and recently went the distance with Floyd Mayweather, who stopped McGregor in 2017.
The younger Paul sibling, however, is the more accomplished boxer with a pro record of 3-0 with all three coming by way of knockout within the first two rounds.
