Job title: Senior Manager, Architecture
Job description: Reed Tech develops industry-leading technology that helps our commercial, governmental and life sciences clients transform data into actionable insights so they can make quicker, more informed decisions.
Reporting to the Director, Software Engineering the Senior Manager, Architecture will directly manage a small team of Architects and will contribute to the definition of the architecture as the business migrates to the cloud delivering automation and the potential offered by machine learning and AI. Strongly technical, the successful candidate will possess commercial awareness and will be able to translate business problems into technical solutions.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to have a material impact and influence on the business, with scope for further growth.
The Senior Manager will be accountable for communicating/evangelizing the architecture (principles, policies, standards, and patterns) to development groups, business groups, and customers and governs adherence to critical architectural principles, sometimes known as the “golden rules.” Additional responsibilities include working with Research to understand where new technology/innovation might solve upcoming business problems as well as perform baseline logical reviews on key systems.
Experience skillset required:
15+ years of experience in software, network, or systems architecture
5+ years of cross-entity product architectural design and governance experience with proven track record of successful enterprise impacts
Demonstrated experience with Cloud architecture, AWS and Azure
Demonstrated experience with DevOps
Demonstrated data architecture experience
Demonstrated management/leadership skills including coaching, mentoring, performance management, and KPO-setting.
Strong knowledge of the plurality of the following technologies: Parallel and Distributed Processing Systems, Information Retrieval, Data Mining, Natural Language Processing, Very Large Scale Databases, Declarative Languages, and High-Performance Computing.
Solid practical applicable knowledge in a plurality of the following areas: Network Design (LAN and WAN), Storage System Architectures, Service-Oriented Architecture technologies, XML and XSLT, and Parallel Processing Architectures (such as SMP and NUMA)
BS Engineering/Computer Science + advanced degree or equivalent experience required.
