As an IBM z Performance Specialist, you will have an opportunity to make the world work faster and better with the lowest latency. At IBM you will help to develop products that drive the world’s major industries to perform with the greatest speed in the cloud, using the latest technologies, and all with the best security.

Job Duties

  • Working with a team of performance analysts and experts to Execute workloads to stress test IBM z systems and LinuxOne to determine the performance of the environment.
  • Determine the effects of tuning the environment and feedback results to the development teams.
  • Understand SMS(System Monitoring Software) reports and be able to decipher from them the pain points in the system to develop tuning for performance, and pinpoint performance bottlenecks.
  • Perform testing efforts including stress and capacity benchmarking on new levels of system architecture. Then determine next steps of testing based on results of initial tests.
  • Linux/Unix System administration, virtualization management.
  • Drive the system integration efforts in the lab as administrator to build an efficient test environment for performance testing.
  • Create and execute system performance test plans in a CI/CD environment – create test plans and ensure they are up to date based on new products procedures and software tools.
  • Analyze test results and open defects/issues with supporting data
  • Develop and maintain service level metrics for systems, including response time, resource monitoring collection and visualization.
  • Provide performance recommendations for software and hardware components, write papers, technical articles, presentations and speeches to convey latest improvements and best practices for our clients.
  • Development operations, automation, agile and developer advocate – development an environment and methodologies to ensure the environment is up to date and using development operations in a manner that allows fast bring up.
  • Take part in Daily Scrum meetings to share progress and determine next steps
  • Learn and utilize Legacy system Z performance modeling tools, and collection techniques.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in Performance testing of private cloud solutions.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience understanding System Monitoring software reports to develop tuning for performance.
  • A minimum of 1 year creating and executing performance test plans.
  • Demonstrated communication skills in a customer facing environment.
  • A minimum of 1 years of experience in writing papers, technical articles, best practices, and presentations to convey work to clients.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Knowledge of IBM z sytems storage
  • Demonstrated communication skills in a customer facing environment.
